Driver Experience Courses 2011

Many preserved railways offer driver experience courses. We are currently looking into the possibility of offering something similar. We are looking to offer a different option, rather then simply driving a light loco, or one round trip over a preserved line with a loco and a couple of carriages, you will be experiencing branch line pick up goods where you will be required to shunt and re-marshall your freight train, ready for another run up the line. These courses are being offered where you can experience driving our class 03 shunter, or class 14, and carrying out the duties of train driver, being a signalman, and being a shunter and/or guard. Courses cost £175 per person, and will require a minimum of two people to operate, and a maximum of three. A discount is available for a booking of three people on the same day. Applicants will receive a free years membership of the Derwent Valley Light Railway Society as part of the course. DATES FOR 2012 DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED (If you have a date in mind, contact us, and we will see if it can be arranged) (Due to the track layout of our line, we MAY also be using one of our industrial diesel shunters as part of the course.)
